Line Controller - Late Shift

Working hours: Static shift pattern

Working hours afternoon shift: 2pm-10.30pm Monday – Thursday and 2pm-8.00pm Fridays

Working hours day shift: 6.00am-2.00pm Monday – Friday, but flexibility is Key and Overtime when required.

Salary: £9.90 for training period increasing to £10.40ph when fully trained + shift allowance

 

Relationships:

Reports to: Production Management

Colleague Team: All Process personnel, QC personnel, Warehouse personnel, Technical and Business Administrator

Other internal contacts: Directors, various levels of management within the Company, other members of staff within functional roles.

External contacts: Equipment and raw material suppliers, Customer Auditors.

Summary Statement

To supervise staff on the production line. Complete line paperwork and relevant checks to an accurate standard as per company policy. Ensure 100% attainment to production plan. To ensure high levels of hygiene and cleanliness on the shop floor.

Key Duties:

You will manage and lead a team to ensure that performance within your area is maximised through careful monitoring, identifying trends within a particular area and acting upon opportunities to increase quality and performance. Working closely with your team, you’ll monitor the effectiveness of machinery and equipment to ensure performance consistency and reliability, with a key focus on promoting safe working environment at all times.

  • Reviews daily schedule with supervisor/Manager.
  • Inspects the appropriate production equipment for cleanliness, allergen issues and foreign objects and material.
  • Completes machinery setup/shutdown process for specific operation of equipment to the product being run.
  • Monitors equipment throughout production run to ensure operation is within process parameters.
  • Performs and maintain quality inspections and checks.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with co-workers.
  • Performs daily housekeeping chores.
  • Maintains a clean, dry and safe working environment by consistently adhering to good housekeeping practices.
  • Works safely and performs daily safety checks on all equipment.
  • Responsible for recognizing and reporting food safety and employee safety issues.
  • Performs changeovers with adherence to Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Rotates into Packer position to perform Packer duties as business/operational needs dictate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Hourly metal detection/Weight checks
  • Full line strip downs/Heavy lifting involved
  • Production paperwork filled out to ensure full traceably is maintained
  • Follow the company’s Allergen policy’s

Cleaning

Ensure the production room is cleaned as required using cleaning procedures.  Ensure cleaning is recorded using relevant documentation.

Health & Safety

To satisfy the legal requirements by being responsible for your own and your colleagues’ Health and Safety.

Training

Full training will be provided. Previous food production experience/  food hygiene certificate would be desirable but not essential.

Summary Statement

Operate safely and effectively packing equipment and machinery, maximising machine efficiency, minimising wastage, to produce product meeting Company quality standards.

Prepare mixes to the required quality and legal standard using recipe, operating and quality procedures. Document mixing information as required by QC procedures. Clean mixing equipment to ensure no product cross contamination. Ensure 100% attainment to production plan.

Key Duties:

Operating packing machines

Operate packing machinery and equipment in a safe and effective manner to produce packaged product conforming to quality specifications and food safety laws.

Mixing

Prepare mixed product to required specification, following operating and quality procedures.  Ensure relevant mixing operations are completed accurately, especially with regard to lot/batch control.

Product Quality

Ensure products meet quality standards for bag forming, weight control, metal detection, palletisation, and shrink-wrapping requirements. Ensure that the correct Date Codes and BBE codes are used.

Problem Solving

Make adjustments to the line as necessary to ensure product consistency and to maximise line efficiency.  Report major faults to the Managing Director without undue delay.

Production Recording

Complete all relevant production records and ensure that they are left in the designated area.

Staff supervision

Ensure packing staff work effectively and pack product correctly.  Keep packing staff informed of line performance and production plan.

Cleaning

Ensure packing equipment is cleaned as required by cleaning procedures.  Ensure cleaning is recorded using relevant documentation.

Hygiene and Housekeeping

Maintain the packing line area to a high level of good housekeeping and hygiene.  Ensure that the work area follows storage rules for packaging, WIP, finished pallets and cleaning materials.

Training

Assist in the training of new staff as required.

QC Technician

Summary Statement

To enforce and follow all technical procedures.
To be responsible for own Health and Safety.
To assist the company with producing safe, legal, and quality products with 100% attainment to plan.

Key Duties:

To manage the workload of the QC department. Plan, conduct and report on internal audits. Understanding and implementation of relevant COSHH procedures.

To assist test baking operations as and when required. To assist with customer visits to the factory, specifically with regard to QC systems, documentation, etc. To liaise with suppliers on technical matters, particularly raw materials, and their specifications. To develop auditing systems in line with customer and in-house requirements.

To ensure that all QC records and documentation are accurate and kept up to date. To ensure that booked in raw materials are released from inspection in a timely manner ensuring that traceability is maintained. To monitor pest control action points and recommend actions where required.

Other Duties (as required):

To make recommendations when appropriate to improve current working practices.
As required to enable the Company to meet its objectives.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of relevant UK and EU legislation.

Knowledge and understanding of GMP procedures.

Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety procedures.

Working knowledge of computers: Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and company’s ERP system.
Able to develop knowledge and personal expertise and proficiency in computerised system usage.

Ability to maintain open working relationships with colleagues and to work well as a team member.
Courtesy and tactfulness.
Interfacing skills.
Work efficiently under pressure.
Organisation/analytical skills. Independent work skills.

Other Characteristics:
