Line Controller - Both Day Shift and Afternoon Shift

Functional Title: Line Controller/Machine Operative              Department:  Mixing

Working hours: Static shift pattern.

Flexibility is important, and overtime may be required depending on the business’ requirements.

Day Shift: 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday

Afternoon Shift: 2pm to 10:30pm Monday to Thursday, then 2pm to 8pm on Fridays.

Salary: £9.90 for training period increasing to £10.40ph when fully trained + shift allowance

Relationships:

Reports to: Production Management

Colleague Team: All Process personnel, QC personnel, Warehouse personnel, Technical and Operations Administrators.

Other internal contacts: Directors, various levels of management within the Company, other members of staff within functional roles.

External contacts: Equipment and raw material suppliers, Customer Auditors.

Summary Statement

To supervise staff on the production line. Complete line paperwork and relevant checks to an accurate standard as per company policy. Ensure 100% attainment to production plan. To ensure high levels of hygiene and cleanliness on the shop floor.

Key Duties:

You will manage and lead a team to ensure that performance within your area is maximised through careful monitoring, identifying trends within a particular area and acting upon opportunities to increase quality and performance. Working closely with your team, you’ll monitor the effectiveness of machinery and equipment to ensure performance consistency and reliability, with a key focus on promoting safe working environment at all times.

  • Reviews daily schedule with supervisor/Manager.
  • Inspects the appropriate production equipment for cleanliness, allergen issues and foreign objects and material.
  • Completes machinery setup/shutdown process for specific operation of equipment to the product being run.
  • Monitors equipment throughout production run to ensure operation is within process parameters.
  • Performs and maintain quality inspections and checks.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with co-workers.
  • Performs daily housekeeping chores.
  • Maintains a clean, dry and safe working environment by consistently adhering to good housekeeping practices.
  • Works safely and performs daily safety checks on all equipment.
  • Responsible for recognizing and reporting food safety and employee safety issues.
  • Performs changeovers with adherence to Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Rotates into Packer position to perform Packer duties as business/operational needs dictate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Hourly metal detection/Weight checks
  • Full line strip downs/Heavy lifting involved
  • Production paperwork filled out to ensure full traceably is maintained
  • Follow the company’s Allergen policy’s

Cleaning

Ensure the production room is cleaned as required using cleaning procedures.  Ensure cleaning is recorded using relevant documentation.

Health & Safety

To satisfy the legal requirements by being responsible for your own and your colleagues’ Health and Safety.

Training

Full training will be provided. Previous food production experience/  food hygiene certificate would be desirable but not essential.

Warehouse Personnel - Afternoon Shift

Working hours afternoon shift: 2pm-10.30pm Monday – Thursday and 2pm-8.00pm Fridays

Salary: Above Minumum Wafe

Relationships:

Reports to: Operations Manager

Colleague Team: Material Handlers, Mixing Operatives, Production Operatives, Supply Chain Manager, Supply Planner.

Other internal contacts: Directors, various levels of management within the Company, other members of staff within functional roles.

External contacts: 3rd party drivers, suppliers, customer auditors.

Summary Statement

We are looking for a reliable individual to join our warehouse team for the afternoon shift to recieve and despatch goods safely using Counterbalance FLTs.

Key Duties:

Raw Materials and Packaging

Ensure all raw materials and packaging recieved on site comply with quality standards and if sub-standard, mark on accompanying paperwork and report to QC or line manager to ensure that damages and returns are dealt with swiftly and accordingly.

Pre-Kitting

Convert raw material bags into pre-kits for the mixing room operators. Fill out batch cards to comply with the Company’s policy – traceability is key to the business and must be completed at all times. This job is very physically demanding.

Finished Goods

Ensure each pallet of finished goods complies with quality standards and specifications regarding case stacking and stretchwrapping, together with the correct pallet identification ticket. Loading of finished goods onto vehicles with appropriate documentation and carrying out procedural vehicle inspections.

Warehouse Stock

Review daily schedule with supervisor/Manager. Ensure warehouse stock is correctly identified and separated into required areas to prevent cross-contamination. Ensure proper stock rotation of raw materials and packaging. Ensure proper lot control is maintained from goods inward to transfer to point of use. Ensure transfers are accurate and timely. Perform stock counts as requested by the Supply Chain Manager.

Hygiene and Housekeeping

Maintain the warehouse to a high level of good housekeeping and hygiene. To report any cleanliness, allergen issues, foreign objects and pest control issues to the Technical Department.

Health & Safety

To satisfy the legal requirements by being responsible for your own and your colleagues’ health and safety. Perform all duties in accordance with Company and Departmental standards.

Other Duties

You may be required to assist with pre-kitting or mixing of batches, involving manual handling of ingredients.

Knowledge, Skills and abilities:

  1. Hold a valid licence for Counterbalance Truck together with full competence in using these vehicles.
  2. Ability to work on own initiative.
  3. Numerate and computer literature.
  4. Effective communication skills.
